Yum! This is one of my favorite dishes to make for parties, and I also usually end up with more paste than eggplants. I love your suggestions for alternate uses!

I like for my filling to have a sour note - I think I was originally working off a recipe that called for red wine vinegar - so I use a tablespoon or two of pomegranate molasses, which I found at an Iranian grocery in Georgetown. I also usually toast the walnuts. :)

I studied abroad in Moscow and your lovely writing reminds me of so many things I miss from Russia. (Also, my host mother definitely has a white aluminum pot with flowers, with ceramic mugs to match.)
Can't wait to try your recipe for Lobio nigvzit!

This is great, Jenny. I've got my own lard-rendering project on my schedule for this evening, although this makes me want to try my hand at making salo or lardo. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Good Morning,

As a blogger that is local to the Northern Virginia area, I would like to extend an invitation to you to join us for our herb gardening class on June 2nd.

Nalls Produce is a local, family owned produce market and flower nursery. We are entering our 50th season on Beulah Street in Northern Virginia and we strive to provide a little slice of Americana to our customers. We provide local produce in season, always sourcing as much as we can from as close as we can. We have personal relationships with a lot of our farmers.

We would love for you to come check us out and attend our herb gardening class (Ann's Favorite Herbs) free of charge! (usually $15 per person)

We've started offering these classes to our customers as a way for them to further their gardening knowledge. Each class runs about an hour with light refreshments provided and the class is followed by a private sale at our store and all purchases are 10% off. We also send everyone off with a free gift relating to the class so they can start their garden off on us!

Here are some further details about the class:

Ann's Favorite Herbs Details
When: Thursday, June 2nd 6:30pm-8:00pm
Where: 7310 Beulah Street, Alexandria VA 22315
